5 Reasons To Run The Inaugural Ascent At Mountain Air 5K & Fun Run

Our newest event, The Ascent At Mountain Air 5K & Fun Run, takes place Saturday October 14. The afternoon event kicks off at 5:00PM with a 5K followed by a Fun Run. Both races share the same spectacular finish line. Happening in the private community of Mountain Air in Burnsville, NC, just 45 minutes from Asheville and an hour from Johnson City. Mountain Air is a family friendly, private gated community, which offers some the most stunning panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. For one evening in October, runners will race a course unlike no other in the region, including what will soon be remembered as the best finish line in Western North Carolina.

Here are our 5 reasons why you should plan to run in the Inaugural Ascent At Mountain Air 5K & Fun Run!

The Setting – The Ascent At Mountain Air 5K will offer a one-of-a-kind road course winding through the private roads of the Mountain Air community, outside of Burnsville.

Challenging Course – The Ascent At Mountain Air 5K is definitely not for the faint at heart. Climbing 1,800 feet from start to finish, this will be one of the more challenging courses in the region. If you loved the Bearwallow Beast 5K or The Bear, this race is definitely for you! Not up for quite that much challenge, but want to experience the event? Register for the fun run/walk, which will take participants the length of the runway and back.

Amazing Prizes – The top ten male and female will win amazing prizes from Mountain Air, including: Top overall male and female racers in the 5K will receive a two-night stay at Falling Leaf Lodge on the mountain top at Mountain Air ($400 value); second place finishers receive a $100 gift cards with a $75 gift card going to third place; and 4-10 receive branded RTIC merchandise from Mountain Air. All racers will receive a long-sleeve commemorative shirt and an embroidered finisher medallion.

Tasty Post Race Meal – Burnsville staples Claudia’s Authentic Mexican Tacos and Blind Squirrel Brewery will be serving up some tasty post-race food and beers for everyone to enjoy!

Best Finish Line In The Mountains – You must see it to believe it. After climbing 1,800 feet, racers will end on a private runway sitting at 4,600 feet and offering 360-degree views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Best of all, the Ascent At Mountain Air 5K & Fun Run takes place during the peak of leaf season!

We look forward to seeing you at the top!
