Asheville Fall Races (2017)

Southcliff Black and BlueWith fall arriving in just 4 short weeks this means the cooler temperatures are just around the corner. Fall is one of our favorite times of the year to host running events in Asheville and the surrounding mountains. From the leaves changing color to enjoying the tasty fall beers (and ciders) to the temperatures slowly dropping; running in the fall is one of the best experiences. Fall is also a time of change and renewal, which makes it a great time to revisit your running habits and goals as well as a point to switch things up as we head into the chillier months.

Whether you’re a seasoned runner or new to the sport there are numerous opportunities all season long to test and challenge your skills. Glory Hound Events produces five events (13 races total) during the fall months with each race offering a unique experience for all levels. Events include the Southcliff Black and Blue Classic, the Asheville Running Experience, the Ascent At Mountain Air 5K & Fun Run, ZERO Prostate Cancer Run & Walk, and the Power of Pink 5K & Memorial Walk.

Here’s a quick breakdown of each event and what to expect:

Our newest event and quite possibly the most challenging this fall, the Ascent At Mountain Air 5K takes place in the Mountain Air community outside Burnsville, NC. This 5K-road race climbs 1,800 feet, from the community’s gates to the private airstrip at 4,600 feet elevation, making it one of the most spectacular finish lines we’ve ever seen. If you want less of a challenge and just want to take in the view there is also a flat one-mile fun run.
