Returning for its’ sixth year, the Asheville Running Experience weekend has something for everyone. Whether you’re a roadie, a trail runner or someone looking for an adventure (and a little movement!) this weekend of races and events is for you. Taking place the weekend of September 19-20 in Asheville, NC, the Asheville Running Experience consists of 6 events – the Superhero 5K/Super Villain 10K & Super Walk, Presented by Black Orthodontics; the Chasing Trail 8K, Presented by Second Gear, Super Hero Sidekick Training Camp, and the Asheville Urban Odyssey.
The Super Hero 5K, Super Villain 10K, and the Chasing Trail 8K will all run concurrently on Saturday, September 19. The Super Hero 5K/Super Villain 10K/Super Walk will start and end at the Salvage Station in the River Arts District, while The Chasing Trail 8K will take place just up the road at Richmond Hill Park. After the trail event, runners will be encouraged to join the other racers down the road at the Salvage Station for the post race party. Racers (21 & up) will be treated to a beer on us.
Our day of multiple events offers something for all ages and sizes. Anyone wanting a shorter distance can participate in the Super Walk taking place just before the start of the Super Hero 5K/Super Villain 10K. This easy & flat 1-mile course is for all levels and a great excuse for anyone to get dressed up as their favorite super hero or super villain. Our youngest, aspiring super heroes will be able to test their skills in the Super Hero Sidekick Training Camp created by Sun Soo Martial Arts. For $5 they can experience a unique hero themed obstacle course full of challenges & surprises
On Sunday, one of Asheville’s most unique events takes place in downtown. The Asheville Urban Odyssey is part urban scavenger hunt and part game show, where teams of four will depart from our headquarters at Green Man Brewing’s newest location, The Dweller on North Market Street, and follow a series of clues to both hidden and well-known downtown Asheville locations. At each location, a team member must complete a specific task before receiving their next clue. After a team completes its eighth task they will make their way back to the finish line for one final challenge. After the race all team members (21 & up) can a beer from Green Man Brewing that is included in registration.
