Asheville Brewing Super Hero 5K/Super Villain 10K, Presented by Black Orthodontics

The Asheville Brewing Super Hero 5K is adding its evil cousin, the Super Villain 10K, are returning to the Salvage Station on the river. Dress up and channel your inner super hero or super villain at either race and join us a great party afterward.

The Asheville Brewing Super Hero 5K/Super Villain 5K, Presented by Black Othodontics will once again start and finish at the Salvage Station but will feature two new, flatter and faster courses that allows people of all abilities to dress up and participate.

Online registration opens on Tuesday, January 15, 2018 and closes on Thursday, September 20.

Courses

Super Hero 5K – 9:10 AM Start

The new flatter and faster Super Hero 5K course will start at 9:10 AM at the Salvage Station and go up and down Riverside Drive on a portion of road and greenway. The race will also run on Old Lyman Street before returning to the Salvage Station.  See the 5K course map HERE.

Super Villain 10K – 9:00 AM Start

This race will start at 9:00 AM and follow the same route as the 5K for the first half of course before heading up Hill Street to Montford as the last section on portions of the Reedy Creek Greenway and Cumberland Avenue before returning to the Salvage Station via Houston Street.  See the 10K course map HERE.

Stuff

The Asheville Running Experience is offering shirts for all events on an ala carte basis.  We have a variety of Super Hero 5K and Super Villain 10K shirts that you may purchase during the online registration process.

Mission Health My Generation Running Series

The Super Hero 5K and Super Villain 10K are the final races in this innovative series that awards points based not on the age group you ran in but your generation.  The five generations are:
Centennials or Gen Z (born in the year 1996 or later)
Millenials (born in the years of 1985-1995)
Generation X’ers (born in the years 1965-1984)
Baby Boomers (born in the years 1946-1964)
Traditionalists (born in the years 1945 or earlier)

Runners in the Asheville Hot Chocolate 10K/5K  (January 26), the Asheville Catholic School Shamrock 10K/5K (March 16), Biltmore/Kiwanis 15K/5K (May 5), Highland Night Flight (July 27) and Super Hero 5K & Super Villain 10K (September 21) will earn points toward a grand prize pool of $6,500.  You must race in 3 of the 5 events to be eligible for prizes.

Following the Super races, all runners who have met the 3 race minimum requirement will receive an email with race results in the My Generation format and final standings.

Post-Race

All pre and post-race activities will take place at The Salvage Station. Post race refreshments will be provided along with a selection of beer from Asheville Brewing Company for our of-age runners. Near the finish line on the main stage will be live music and both awards ceremonies.

The 5K awards ceremony at approximately 10:15 AM with the 10K to follow at approximately 11:00 AM.

Awards

Special, commemorative awards will be given to the first three male and female overall and top male and female masters of both races.

Age group prizes will also be awarded in the following categories:

Super Hero 5K
12 & Under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 & Over

Super Villain 10K

15 & Under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over

No ‘double-dipping’ in award categories

If you can’t stay for the awards ceremonies, please make arrangements for someone to pick it up for you.  Awards will not be mailed.

Timing

Both races will utilize chip timing.  A timing chip will be on the back of your race bib, which should be worn on your front and visible at all times during the race.

Parking

There is plenty of free parking at The Salvage Station.

Refunds/Transfers

The Asheville Running Experience has a NO REFUND policy. However, we do offer partial discount codes for cancellations during our cancellation periods. If the event is NOT sold out, a discount code for 50% of your race registration fee will be offered until 30 days prior to the race date. If the event IS sold out, a discount  code for 100% of your race registration fee will be offered until 14 days prior to  the race date. Discount codes can be used to register for another Asheville Running Experience event and will be valid for 12 months after the event date.

You may transfer your registration to another participant up to 14 days prior to the race day with a $2 transfer fee. You may only transfer an entry in the same race.  Email your transfer request to info@ashevillerunningexperience.com with your original registration information, including confirmation number as well as the email address for the participant who will be taking your place. Emails must be received no later than Monday, September 15, 2019.

Results

Live, unofficial results will be available during each race at rightontimeproductions.blogspot.com.

You may stop by the results tent to check your results after the race.
Official results will be posted at www.AVLRunningExperience.com after each race.
