The Asheville Brewing Super Hero 5K is adding its evil cousin, the Super Villain 10K, and moving to the Salvage Station on the river. Dress up and channel your inner super hero or super villain at either race and join us a great party afterward.

Super Hero 5K – 9:10 AM Start
The race will start at the Salvage Station and go up Hill Street for a short distance before heading into Montford. The race will use portions of Cumberland Avenue, Flint Street and the Reedy Creek Greenway before returning to the Salvage Station via Houston Street. The 5K course has 347 feet of vertical gain. Super Villain 10K – 9:00 AM Start
This race will start ten minutes before the 5K, splitting off at Houston Street The course will utilize portions of Pearson Street, Westover, Hibriton, the Reedy Creek Greenway, and Cumberland Avenue before returning to the Salvage Station via Houston Street. The 10K course has 548 feet of vertical gain. See the 10K course map HERE.

Mission Health My Generation Running Series
The Super Hero 5K and Super Villian 10K are the final races in this innovative new series that awards points based not on the age group you ran in but your generation.
Centennials or Gen Z (born in the year 1996 or later)
Millenials (born in the years of 1985-1995)
Generation X’ers (born in the years 1965-1984)
Baby Boomers (born in the years 1946-1964)
Traditionalists (born in the years 1945 or earlier)
To participate you must run two of these four Asheville races:
Asheville Catholic School’s 12th Annual Shamrock 5K/10K – March 17
Festival Frenzy 5K – May 26 (Part of the Mountain Sports Festival)
Highland Brewing Night Flight – July 28
Asheville Brewing Super Hero 5K/Super Villain 10K
There is no entry fee to participate in the series and earn points toward a grand prize pool of $6,500.
Following each race, all runners will receive an email with race results in the My Generation format and current standings.
Jus’ Running is offering a ten week training program to get you ready for either the 5K or 10K. This is designed for current runners who have already completed a 5K or can run 30 minutes with few, if any walk, breaks. The program includes:
- Race registration for either the Super Hero 5K or Super Villain 10K
- Customized training plan
- Organized group runs at different paces
- Opportunity to make new friends and access to similar peer running groups
- Access to informational clinics from local experts
- Technical t-shirt
- 20% discount at Jus’ Running while in the program
- Email correspondence with coaches as needed

All pre and post-race activities will take place at The Salvage Station. Post race refreshments will be provided along with a selection of beer from Asheville Brewing Company for our of-age runners. Near the finish line on the main stage will be live music and both awards ceremonies.
The 5K awards ceremony at approximately 10:15 AM with the 10K to follow at approximately 11:00 AM.
Special, commemorative awards will be given to the first three male and female overall and top male and female masters of both races.
Age group prizes will also be awarded in the following categories:
Super Hero 5K
12 & Under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 & Over
Super Villain 10K
15 & Under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over
No ‘double-dipping’ in award categories
If you can’t stay for the awards ceremonies, please make arrangements for someone to pick it up for you. Awards will not be mailed.
The 5K race will utilize chip timing. A timing chip will be on the back of your race bib, which should be worn on your front and visible at all times during the race.
There is plenty of free parking at The Salvage Station.
The Asheville Running Experience has a NO REFUND policy. However, we do offer partial discount codes for cancellations during our cancellation periods. If the event is NOT sold out, a discount code for 50% of your race registration fee will be offered until 30 days prior to the race date. If the event IS sold out, a discount code for 100% of your race registration fee will be offered until 14 days prior to the race date. Discount codes can be used to register for another Asheville Running Experience event and will be valid for 12 months after the event date.
You may transfer your registration to another participant up to 14 days prior to the race day with a $2 transfer fee. You may only transfer an entry in the same race. Email your transfer request to firstname.lastname@example.org with your original registration information, including confirmation number as well as the email address for the participant who will be taking your place. Emails must be received no later than Monday, September 11, 2018.
