Glory Hound Events and Kick It Event Management team up once again for the 2019 Asheville Running Experience (ARX). The countdown begins Tuesday, January 15 with the launch of race registration for the Super Hero 5K/Super Villain 10K (Presented by Black Orthodontics), the Chasing Trail 8K (Presented by Second Gear) and the Asheville Urban Odyssey.
The Asheville Running Experience, now in its fifth year, takes place over the weekend of Sept 20-22, features four main events and has something for everyone. From the roadie to the trail runner and the urban adventurer to the youngest in your party, the Asheville Running Experience has an event for everyone in your group.
2019 Asheville Running Experience Schedule
The Happening – Friday, September 20
The most unique packet pick-up in the region! Come spend an evening at Asheville’s best outdoor venue, the Salvage Station. While you’re picking up everything you’ll need for the races enjoy some dinner and drinks as well as some music and performance art. While you’re there be sure to check out all the ARX sponsors & vendor tables.
Super Hero 5K & Super Villain 10K – Saturday, September 21
Presented by Black Orthodontics
Get your costumes ready! These races were just named the Best Costumed Event in Blue Ridge Outdoors “Best of the Blue Ridge” poll and will feature two new courses that are flatter and friendlier. Each race starts and ends at one of Asheville’s best venues, The Salvage Station. After the races, stick around for the after party and awards ceremony.

Super Sidekick Training Camp – Saturday, September 21
Taking place during the Superhero 5K & Super Villain 10K, this event is for the kids who may be too young to run the Super races. Managed and designed by Sun Soo Martial Arts, participants will experience a superhero themed obstacle course full of surprises. The course will be located at The Salvage Station from 9am-11am. Complete all 7 challenges and receive a Super Sidekick Training Camp button! ($5 per child)
Chasing Trail 8K – Saturday, September 21
Presented by Second Gear
Taking place in Asheville’s Richmond Park, the Chasing Trail 8K is the off-road component of the Asheville Running Experience and moves to Saturday in 2019. Enjoy some true outdoor adventure and beautiful trails, all within the Asheville city limits! After the race be sure to head down the road to The Salvage Station for the after-party with the Super Hero 5K and Super Villain 10K racers.

Asheville Urban Odyssey – Sunday, September 22
The Asheville Urban Odyssey returns to the South Slope at Urban Orchard with eight new fun clues and challenges. The most unique event of the Asheville Running Experience weekend, this event is a combination of a race, urban scavenger hunt and game show. Teams of four will depart from our headquarters and follow a series of clues to both hidden and well-known Asheville locations where team members must complete a specific task before receiving their next clue.

Glory Hound Events was started in 2006, initially managing the historic Bele Chere 5K. Shortly after that first year the Lake Logan Triathlon was introduced and eventually became a part of the Lake Logan Multisport Festival. Glory Hound Events is now the largest endurance event management company in the Western North Carolina region, producing an average of twelve events annually.
