We love hosting fall races and events! There’s definitely nothing better than running in the crisp cool air while taking in the beautiful backdrop the mountains provide as the leaves change colors. What makes a fall race even better is when it’s for a great cause. Each fall, Glory Hound Events produces two exciting events that also serve as benefits for two causes close to our hearts. These events are the PowerOf Pink 5K & Survivor/Honor/Memory Walk in Clyde and the Zero-Prostate CancerRun/Walk in Asheville.
Power of Pink 5K and Survivor Walk
The first event to take place is the Power of Pink 5K and Survivor Walk that we host
in partnership with the Haywood Health Care Foundation. Taking place, Saturday
October 7, at the Haywood Health & Fitness Center in Clyde, this event
consists of a 5K, which starts at 9 a.m., and a Survivor/Honor/Memory walk which
starts at 10 a.m. Both events are an opportunity to honor those who have survived
the battle with cancer and remember those who did not. Since the inaugural event in
2007, this event has raised enough funds to provide over 1,300 mammograms and follow-up procedures for 800 women in Haywood County.
Zero-Prostate Cancer Run/Walk
The next event is the Zero-Prostate Cancer Run/Walk that takes place Saturday
November 4 at Carrier Park in Asheville, NC. This event features a 5K run/walk, 1-
mile walk, Kids' Superhero Dash for Dad, and virtual Snooze for Dudes program.
Funds from this event are invested around the country to provide research for new
treatments, free prostate cancer testing, and educate men and families about
Each event includes free t-shirts for participants, a bag of goodies from sponsors,
awards for the top overall male and female as well as age group awards to the top 3
male and female in certain age groups (see race pages for details). After each race
there is also an awards ceremony that includes food, drink, and music.
So no matter which race you decide to participate in this fall, your guaranteed a
great run with other like-minded racers and the understanding that we’re all there
for a bigger purpose. We look forward to seeing everyone at the starting line!
