As we enter the last few months of an historically crazy race year, we know everyone is already looking to the future. So are we! We have already plotted out most of our 2021 schedule, and it looks awesome! So mark your calendars, set your goals, and get ready to make next year one of YOUR best years in endurance racing.
We are still hopeful our remaining 2020 races will happen in some form and will keep everyone updated as we know more. These races include the Ascent At Mountain Air 5K (Oct. 17), Gateway To The Smokies Half Marathon (Oct. 24), the Mighty Four Miler To Benefit The Riley Howell Foundation (Oct. 24), Asheville Catholic School’s Shamrock 5K & 10K (Oct. 31), The Scream! Half Marathon (Dec. 05), or the Santa’s Showdown 5K (Dec. 05).

Shamrock Run 5K & 10K – March 13
These races always kicks off our season and are always a great time. The 5K and 10K both start and finish at Asheville Catholic School, running through the beautiful neighborhoods of North Asheville. A fun run kicks off the morning and is a favorite among the younger racers.
Gateway to the Smokies Half Marathon – April 03#
Our newest half marathon starts in the middle of Waynesville and winds through its neighborhoods and country side. It is run in conjunction with the Mighty Four Miler To Benefit The Riley Howell Foundation.

Glory Hound Events is privileged to honor the sacrifice and heroism of Riley Howell and to be able to support the efforts of the Riley Howell Foundation with this super fun race that runs in conjunction with the Gateway to the Smokies Half Marathon. Both races start in Downtown Waynesville, NC
Fire Mountain Inferno XC & Enduro Weekend – May 22-23
A weekend of mountain bike racing on some of the flowiest trails in the southeast, the Fire Mountain Trails in Cherokee, NC. There will be day of Enduro racing and a day of Cross Country racing. Join us for a day or go for a Dante’s Double by completing both days of racing.
Red White & Blue Ridge 5K – July 04
Join us for this festive 5K race where we will raise money for Blue Ridge Early College student events and celebrate our country’s birthday.
The SCREAM! Half Marathon – July 10
One of our most popular races, this unique half marathon features 13.1 miles of pure downhill. The field is limited to 350 participants by the US Forest Service and sells out quickly each year.
Highland Brewing Night Flight – July 17
Asheville’s favorite twilight race and one of the best post-race parties around takes place at Highland Brewing Company. Best part of this race is that it’s all for a good cause. 100% of race proceeds go to supporting our greenways in Asheville and Buncombe County through our partners at Connect Buncombe.

Cherokee Harvest Half Marathon – September 18
The Cherokee Harvest Half Marathon will be ran for the ninth time on Saturday, September 18. Known for it’s amazing course, famous swag and of course, the incredible post-race meal from Harrah’s Cherokee Resort.
Cherokee Harvest 5K – September 18
Also running for its’ ninth time, the Cherokee Harvest 5K is the shorter race of the day. Also known for a beautiful course, famous swag and of course, the incredible post-race meal from Harrah’s Cherokee Resort.
Power of Pink 5K – September 25#
Join us for the 14th running of this community event in Downtown Waynesville. To date this event has raised the funds to provide over 1800 mammograms and follow up procedures to 900+ men and women in Haywood County.
The Ascent at Mountain Air 5K – October 16^
Up for a challenge in 2021? This race is definitely not for the faint of heart or spirit. The course climbs 1800’ from start to finish. The payoff is at the finish line with unrivaled views of mountains and forests in the heart of the fall color season.
Geyser Growl Half Marathon – October 23
Presented by Hillman Beer this new half marathon takes racers from the Town of Black Mountain to Old Fort, NC. If you love racing on scenic forest roads, with a mostly downhill course, and a finish line that includes a locally crafted beer be sure to register for Western North Carolina’s newest race.
Land and Sky Relay – November 06#
After a year hiatus due to Covid-19, our plan is to bring it back better than ever in 2021 with three new legs on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Start getting your teams together and we’ll see you in 2021.
Waynesville Sunrise Rotary Turkey Trot – November 25
Our newest race is also our first Thanksgiving race. Join us and the Sunrise Rotary Club of Waynesville for a super flat run at beautiful Lake Junaluska before starting your holiday festivities.

About Glory Hound Events
Glory Hound Events was started in 2006, initially managing the historic Bele Chere 5K. Shortly after that first year the Lake Logan Triathlon was introduced and eventually became a part of the Lake Logan Multisport Festival. Glory Hound Events is now the largest endurance event management company in the Western North Carolina region, producing an average of eighteen events annually. In addition to producing its own events and those for a variety of clients, Glory Hound Events offers consulting services for events outside of Western North Carolina looking to take theirs to the next level.
