The Ridgecrest Conference Center in Black Mountain is proud to present the fourth Downhill at Dusk 5K. Runners will run a course from Ridgecrest to Black Mountain that drops over 200 feet in elevation. This is one of most unique and fastest races of the year. Earlier that day, the Downhill at Dawn Half Marathon will take runners from Ridgecrest to Old Fort on a combination of paved and gravel roads.

Through our registration platform, IMAthlete, we are offering this insurance from Allianz Global Assistance. Those purchasing this insurance during online registration are eligible to be reimbursed for the cost of your registration fee should you become injured or another event procludes you from racing. It does not cover COVID-19, including registration fees lost due to races being postponed or cancelled because of the pandemic.
Should you not purchase the insurance at the time of registration, you have 14 days to go back and purchase it should you decide at a later time you want it.
Saturday, September 26, 4:00-5:30 PM – ARC on the Ridgecrest Campus
Everyone must wear a mask inside the designated packet pick up area. No Mask, No Race, No Exceptions!
This downhill 5K will start in front of the ARC at the back of the Ridgecrest Conference Center and head west down old US 70 to Black Mountain, finishing at Black Mountain First Baptist Church.
The course is USA Track and Field certified (USATF Certificate Number NC19009BDS).
All participants will receive a short-sleeve, tech shirt. You must be registered on or before September 14 to guarantee a shirt.
Those who complete both the half marathon and 5K will receive a special award at the finish line of the 5K.
The deadline to register for the Downhill Double is September 14 or whenever the half marathon sells out, whichever is first. Those who register for one race and then add a second after this date will not be eligible for the Downhill Double prize.

Post race activities, including the award ceremony, will take place at Black Mountain First Baptist Church. There will be food, chocolate milk, water, and Gatorade. Shuttles back to Ridgecrest will leave from the rear of the church.
Awards will be presented at the finish area in Black Mountain at approximately 7:15 pm. Double dipping of awards will not occur. The award categories include:
1-3 Male & Female
1 Masters Male & Female
1-3 male and female in the following age brackets:
12 and under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 and over.
Awards will not be mailed. If you cannot stay for the awards ceremony, please have someone pick it up for you.
The race will utilize chip timing. Your chips are on your race bib so don’t crinkle them up.
The simplest parking is near Woodland (building on campus), the ARC and parking near the start of the race in Royal Gorge. Please follow the directions of our parking volunteers. Shuttles will provide transportation back to Ridgecrest after the race every 15-30 minutes as needed.
The Ridgecrest Conference Center has a NO REFUND policy. However, we do offer partial discounts for those canceling during our cancellation periods.
If the event is NOT sold out, a discount code for 100% of your race registration fee will be offered until 5 days prior to the race date. No discounts codes will be given within 5 days before the event, if the event is not sold out.

THIS IS NOT A DEFERMENT. HOLD ONTO THE DISCOUNT CODE TO USE WHEN YOU ENTER NEXT YEAR’S RACE.
Discount codes can be used to register for the 2021 race and will be valid for 8 months after the event date.
This policy only applies to the Downhill at Dusk 5K and Downhill at Dawn Half Marathon. Discount codes from the previous year may not be used for any other events owned or managed by Glory Hound Events or its partnerships.
You may transfer your entry to another person by submitting the TRANSFER FORM. The deadline to transfer an entry is Monday, September 21.
If you cancelled your entry for the 2019 race, you must use the code you received in your cancellation confirmation email from IMAthlete to receive your 2020 discount.
