Friday, July 28 – 4:00-6:00 PM – Hillman Beer, Morganton (212 South Green Street)
You may pick up another person’s packet (provided they signed the waiver during online registration) but you must know their date of birth and sign for their packet.
Saturday, July 29 – 5:30-6:45 AM – Brown Mountain Beach Resort (6785 Brown Mountain Beach Road, Lenoir)
Our course is an out-and-back on Brown Mountain Beach Road inside the Wilson Creek Recreation Area in the Grandfather Ranger District. The entire course is run along the river providing amazing views throughout the race. Those who ran the old Ridge-to-Bridge/Peak-to-Creek Marathon will recognize this as the last section of that race.
This course is currently not USA Track & Field certified.
Course Cutoff Time: All participants must complete the 13.1 mile course in 3:30 hours or less. The Scream is a half marathon race; please come prepared to run.
Aid stations will be located at two-mile intervals (approximate) along the course. Each will offer water and energy drink with some having cookies and/or pretzels.
Drop Bag
With our current format, drop bags are no longer needed. Just store what you need in your car but please keep valuables out of site.
Stuff
Everyone who completes The Scream will receive a pretty cool medal at the finish line.
Back for 2023: Our shirt purchase option has proven to be very popular. If you want an official race shirt, you may purchase one during online registration for $11. Shirts will be distributed at the post-race party at Brown Mountain Beach Resort. Shirts not claimed on race day will be available for pickup only in Asheville.

- Find your (insert event name) registration tile
- Select the three dots in the top right corner

Glory Hound Events Half Marathon Challenge, Presented by Marlene Clevenger-Premier/Sothesby’s Realty
The Scream Half Marathon is one of four races in the Glory Hound Events Half Marathon Challenge, Presented by Marlene Clevenger-Premier/Sothesby’s Realty. Complete all of our 2023 half marathons and you will get all sorts of cool things, including cash. Read more about it HERE.
We will have bottled water, Gatorade bananas and dill pickles at the finish line with a catered lunch to follow at Brown Mountain Beach Resort.
We are proud to be partnering with Hillman Beer, who will be providing a cold beer to all those 21+. We will also have non-alcoholic beer from Athletic Brewing.
The awards ceremony will take place at approximately 10:00 AM.

Top 3 Male and Female Overall
Top 1 Masters Male and Female
Top 3 finishers in the following age groups:
19 & Under; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 & Over.
Please plan on being present for the awards ceremony or make arrangements for someone else to pick up your award. Awards will not be mailed.
The race will utilize chip timing. The chips are attached to the back of your race bib so don’t crinkle them.
We love dogs but we don’t feel that running 13.1 miles with one is a good idea. For that reason, dogs are not permitted at The Scream.
All race day parking will take place at the east end of Brown Mountain Beach Resort. Please follow the directions of the parking attendants on race morning. From there it is a short walk to the Start/Finish area adjacent to the clubhouse.
To minimize congestion and race day traffic, runners are encouraged to carpool together.
Glory Hound, Inc. has a NO REFUND policy.
Transfers
To transfer your registration to another person please follow these steps:
- Click on ‘My Account’ when logged into EnMotive
- Go to your “Registrations” view and find the Registration you’d like to Transfer
- Click on the action icon in the top right corner of the registration field
- Select ‘Transfer Registration’
- Enter the email address of the person you want to transfer the registration to
- That individual will receive an email notifying them of the transfer, and they’ll be instructed on how to accept it
- The transfer will only be valid for 48 hours, so be sure they accept quickly!
Transfers may be made up to the end of online registration but please allow time for the other person to accept it.
This is the only way transfers or the selling of bibs between participants will be allowed. Anyone who is discovered to have purchased or accepted another person’s bib without submitting this form will be disqualified and banned from future races.
