

Please join us as we celebrate the sixth Waynesville Sunrise Rotary Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving Day, November 276h. We cannot think of a better way to start the Thanksgiving holiday than with a run with family and friends around beautiful Lake Junaluska. As we like to say, “first the huffin’; then the stuffin’!”
RACE DAY: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 26 – 9:00 AM START
Online registration will open on Wednesday, July 8 and will close on Monday, November 23 (or earlier if the event sells out).
Race Capacity
We are excited to announce the race capacity has been increased to 800 participants this year but we still expect the race to sell out well before Thanksgiving. For this reason we encourage you to register as early as possible.

Packet Pickup Schedule
Wednesday, November 25 – 11:00 AM-2:00 PM – Bosus Wine Shop (138 Miller Street, Waynesville)
Thursday, November 26 – 7:30-8:45 AM – Weldon Outdoor Gymnasium at Lake Junaluska
This 5K course will start and finish at Weldon Gym and will feature a clock-wise loop around Lake Junaluska.
There will be one water station.
Stuff
All pre-registered runners who register on or before 1:00 EDT on Wednesday, November 3 is guaranteed a shirt in their size. After that date, it will be based on availability.
Other
Indoor restrooms are adjacent to Weldon Gymnasium (weather permitting) with supplemental portable toilets.
Strollers
Children in strollers are permitted. The child riding in the stroller does not need to be registered. We ask that anyone pushing a stroller start in the back of the field.
After you finish the race, please join us for drinks and snacks prior to the awards ceremony.
Special prizes will be presented to the top three overall male and female and top Masters (40 & Over) male and female.
Age group awards will go to the first, second and third male and female in the following age groups: 9 & Under, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34,35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and Over.
No double dipping!
Your race bib contains a timing chip that will start when you cross the timing mat at the start line and end when you cross the finish line. Please do not crinkle your bib.
Please wear your race bib on your front so it is visible when you cross both the start and finish lines.
Well-behaved, vaccinated dogs on leashes are welcome. If you are running with a dog, please start in the back of the pack.
The principle parking areas are the Bethea Welcome Center (91 North Lakeshore Drive), Center for Evangelism, York Dining Commons and near the pool on Melody Lane . Please do not park along the side of the road unless it is in a marked space.
This race has a NO REFUND POLICY! This a rain or shine event!
Transfers
You may transfer your registration to another person. There will be a $2 processing fee.
To transfer your registration to another person please log into Race Roster and select Transfer where prompted. All transfers must be completed by Monday, November 24 at 7:00 PM EST.
This is the only way transfers or the selling of bibs between participants will be allowed. Anyone who is discovered to have purchased or accepted another person’s bib without submitting this form will be disqualified and banned from future races.
Volunteers are needed for Set-Up, Parking, Course Marshals, Food & Drink and Take-Down. This event will not happen without a great group of volunteers. To be one, email Lane Perry at lanegravesperry@gmail.com
