Asheville Catholic School’s 17th Annual Shamrock 5K + 10K & Fun Run

November 20, 2023-January 31, 2024: 10K-$35; 5K-30; Fun Run-$15

February 1-29: 10K-$40, 5K-$35; Fun Run-$15

March 1 thru race day: 10K-$45, 5K-40; Fun Run-$15

Friday, March 15 – 4:00-6:00 PM – ACS Common Area

Saturday, March 16 –  ACS Common Area

Fun Run:  7:00-7:45 AM

10K:  7:00-8:00 AM (No registrations will be accepted after 8:00 AM)

5K:  7:00-8:15 AM (No registrations will be accepted after 8:15 AM)

You may pick up for others, but you will be asked for their date of birth and to sign for their packet.  Once a packet leaves our hands, it is your responsibility.

All races start and finish at Asheville Catholic School off Beaverdam Road in North Asheville.

The 5K and 10K will remain the same as the past five years, offering a fun and challenging run in the neighborhoods of North Asheville.

Volunteers will be stationed at each turn and there will be signs marking every turn.  Police officers will stationed at key intersections.

We ask you to stay to the right side of the road and stay on sidewalks whenever possible.

Stuff

All 5K/10K runners and Fun Run participants will receive a custom race shirt. Fun Runners will also receive a fun prize at the finish line.

Shirts will be ordered on or around March 4 so anyone registering after that date may not receive a shirt and/or in the size they prefer.

Bag Check

We will once again offer a Bag Drop service for anyone wishing to have us store their bag during the race.  Simply bring a SMALL bag with the Bag Check stub on your bib attached and leave it with the volunteers in the classroom adjacent to the Common Area and marked with a green Bag Drop flag.  We will have safety pins for you to attach your stub with. After the race, show your race number and our volunteers will give you your bag. 

Costumes 

Don’t forget your costumes!  We will be awarding prizes for the most creative Irish-themed costumes.  We will recognize the winners during the awards ceremony.

Fun Run

5K/10K – Part 1

Bottled water will be near the finish line.

We are grateful to return our amazing food from our ACS Hispanic families, which you will find with other snacks inside the gym.

All post race activities, including the awards ceremonies, will take place inside the gymnasium.

There will be separate award ceremonies for each race with the 5K ceremony starting at approximately 9:45 AM and the 10K ceremony at approximately 10:15 AM.  Both ceremonies will take place inside the gymnasium.

If you were not able to stay for the award ceremonies and won an award, you may pick it up at the ACS office during the week of March 18-22.

5K

Our friends at Mountain Running Company will be providing gift cards for the top 3 overall male and female ($75-1st, $50-2nd, $40-3rd) and top 3 masters male and female ($40-1st, $30-2nd, $20-3rd).

Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers in the following age groups:

6 & Under, 7-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74 and 75 & Over

10K

Our local running store, Jus’ Running, will be providing gift cards for the top 3 overall male and female ($75-1st, $50-2nd, $40-3rd) and top 3 masters male and female ($40-1st, $30-2nd, $20-3rd).

Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers in the following age groups:

13 & Under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over

General

Please plan on being present for the awards ceremony or make arrangements for someone else to pick up your award.

We will have our traditional costume contest for both kids and adults.  The best St. Patrick’s Day themed costumes will receive a fun prize.

The race will utilize chip timing.

The chips are attached to the back of your race bib so don’t crinkle them. Please make sure your bib is visible on your front at all times, but especially when crossing the finish line.

Dogs are not permitted at this event. We love dogs but this is not the place for them – either in the races or at the school or church. Anyone with a dog will be asked to remove them from the venue.

Limited parking is available at the Asheville Catholic School. Parking is also available at the following locations:

• St. Eugene’s Catholic Church
• Former Steinmart shopping complex (across Merrimon Avenue)
• Ira Jones Elementary School (Kimberly Avenue or Jones School Road)
• Asbury Memorial Church (Beaverdam Road)
• Grace Episcopal Church (upper and lower lots off of Ottari Road)
• Surrounding neighborhood side streets.
• Please do not park in the North Asheville Animal Hospital parking lot across from the school on Beaverdam as they are open for business that morning.

Note: Please hide your valuables. None of these properties are responsible for stolen items or damage to your vehicles.  You may also take advantage of our Bag Drop this year.

The Asheville Catholic School Shamrock races have a No Refund Policy.

Transfers

To transfer your registration to another person please follow these steps:

1. Click on ‘My Account’ when logged into EnMotive
2. Go to your “Registrations” view and find the Registration you’d like to Transfer
3. Click on the action icon in the top right corner of the registration field
4. Select ‘Transfer Registration’
5. Enter the email address of the person you want to transfer the registration to
6. That individual will receive an email notifying them of the transfer, and they’ll be instructed on how to accept it

• The transfer will only be valid for 48 hours, so be sure they accept quickly!

Transfers may be made up to the end of online registration but please allow time for the other person to accept it.  Transfers must be completed by Thursday, March 14 at 9:00 PM.

This is the only way transfers or the selling of bibs between participants will be allowed. Anyone who is discovered to have purchased or accepted another person’s bib without submitting this form will be disqualified and banned from future races.
