The Scream Half Marathon is now the Wilson Creek Half Marathon, honoring the river that spans the entire course.What hasn’t changed is the same incredible scenery, post-race experience, and expert management. We will keep the same course we unveiled in 2022 to great reviews by both our runners and the US Forest Service.We look forward to seeing our loyal runners again and meeting new friends who will experience running in the Wilson Creek Recreation Area for the first time.

You may pick up another person’s packet (provided they signed the waiver during online registration) but you must know their date of birth and sign for their packet.
Saturday, July 13 – 5:00-6:30 AM – Brown Mountain Beach Resort (6785 Brown Mountain Beach Road, Lenoir)
Our course is an out-and-back on Brown Mountain Beach Road inside the Wilson Creek Recreation Area in the Grandfather Ranger District.The entire course is run along the river providing amazing views throughout the race.Those who ran the old Ridge-to-Bridge/Peak-to-Creek Marathon will recognize this as the last section of that race.
This course is currently not USA Track & Field certified.
Course Cutoff Time: All participants must complete the 13.1 mile course in 3:30 hours or less.
Aid stations will be located at two-mile intervals (approximate) along the course. Each will offer water and energy drink with some having cookies and/or pretzels.
In the last few years of the Scream edition of this event, many people had a Scream shirt so we went offered shirts a la carte for those that wanted one.NO ONE has a Wilson Creek Half Marathon shirt so all registered participants will receive the inaugural year race shirt.This year’s shirt will be a short-sleeve cotton blend that fits true to size (unisex sizes). To guarantee your size, please register by July 2.
Everyone who completes the Wilson Creek Half Marathon will receive a very cool medal at the finish line.

We will have bottled water, bananas and dill pickles at the finish line with a catered lunch to follow at Brown Mountain Beach Resort. The awards ceremony will take place at approximately 10:00 AM.
Beer will be provided to all participants 21 and over from our friends at Hillman Beer. One per person and you will need to give us the Glory Hound tab on your race bib. If you look less than 21 or regularly get carded, please bring your ID.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Brown Mountain Beach Resort.
Awards will be offered in the following categories: Top 3 Male and Female Overall Top 1 Masters Male and Female Top 3 finishers in the following age groups: 18-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-60; 70-74; 75 & Over.
Please plan on being present for the awards ceremony or make arrangements for someone else to pick up your award. Awards will not be mailed.
The race will utilize chip timing. The chips are attached to the back of your race bib so don’t crinkle them.
We love dogs but we don’t feel that running 13.1 miles with one is a good idea. For that reason, dogs are not permitted at The Scream unless the owner can provide a letter from their veterinarian stating the dog is able to run this distance under the prevailing conditions.
All race day parking will take place at the east end of Brown Mountain Beach Resort.Please follow the directions of the parking attendants on race morning.From there it is a short walk to the Start/Finish area adjacent to the clubhouse.
To minimize congestion and race day traffic, runners are encouraged to carpool together.
Cancellations & Transfers
Glory Hound Events has a NO REFUND policy.
To transfer your registration to another person please follow these steps:
Click on ‘My Account’ when logged into EnMotive
Go to your “Registrations” view and find the Registration you’d like to Transfer
Click on the action icon in the top right corner of the registration field
Select ‘Transfer Registration’
Enter the email address of the person you want to transfer the registration to
That individual will receive an email notifying them of the transfer, and they’ll be instructed on how to accept it
The transfer will only be valid for 48 hours, so be sure they accept quickly!
Transfers may be made up to the end of online registration on July 11 but please allow time for the other person to accept it.
This is the only way transfers or the selling of bibs between participants will be allowed. Anyone who is discovered to have purchased or accepted another person’s bib without submitting this form will be disqualified and banned from future races.
Preliminary results will be posted at the race site throughout the morning. Final results will be posted here by Saturday evening.
