Asheville Catholic School presents the 13th Annual Shamrock Run on Saturday, March 16. There are two races: a 5K and a 10K, both of which start and finish at ACS and run through the beautiful neighborhoods of North Asheville. A fun run will precede the start of the 5K and 10K.  The 10K will start at 9:00 AM and the 5K at 9:15 AM. The Fun Run will begin at 8:30 AM. The event will be day before St. Patrick’s Day this year giving everyone a perfect way to celebrate this fun holiday. There will be great food, beer, and a DJ before and after the races.

Registration

Asheville Catholic Shamrock RunRegistration for the 2019 Shamrock 5K/10K/Fun Run will begin on Saturday, December 1 at 9:00 AM.

The 5K and 10K sold out in 2018 so we encourage everyone to register early.

Fun Run – 8:30 AM
10K – 9:00 AM
5K – 9:15 AM

All races start on Culvern Street in front of the school and end in the school parking lot.

Entry Fees

December 1, 2018-January 31, 2019: 10K-$25, 5K-$20, Fun Run-$10
February 1-28: 10K-$30, 5K-$25, Fun Run-$10
March 1 thru race day: 10K-$35, 5K-$30, Fun Run-$10

Course(s)

All races start and finish at Asheville Catholic School.

The 5K and 10K will remain the same as the past two years, offering a fun and challenging run in the neighborhoods of North Asheville.

The Fun Course is a .4 mile course that goes to and around St. Eugene’s Catholic Church before returning to the school.

Friday, March 15 – 4:00-6:00 PM – Asheville Catholic School Gymnasium

All pre-registered runners will receive a long-sleeve, 100% race shirt at Packet Pickup.

Fun Run

All pre-registered runners will receive a short-sleeve, 100% race shirt at Packet Pickup.

Mission Health My Generation Running Series

All participants in the Shamrock 5K and 10K are automatically entered in this innovative series that awards points based not on the age group you ran in but your generation.  The five generations are:
Centennials or Gen Z (born in the year 1996 or later)
Millenials (born in the years of 1985-1995)
Generation X’ers (born in the years 1965-1984)
Baby Boomers (born in the years 1946-1964)
Traditionalists (born in the years 1945 or earlier)

Runners in our Shamrock races plus those in the Asheville Hot Chocolate 10K/5K (January 26), Biltmore/Kiwanis 15K/5K (May 5), Highland Night Flight (July 27) and Super Hero 5K & Super Villain 10K (September 21) will earn points toward a grand prize pool of $6,500.  You must race in 3 of the 5 events to be eligible for prizes.

Following Shamrock, all runners will receive an email with race results in the My Generation format and current standings.

Post Race

Post-race activities will take place in the gymnasium and playground area.  Food and drink, including beer for all of-age participants, will be available to all runners.  There will be separate award ceremonies for each race inside the gym with the 5K ceremony starting at approximately 10:15 AM and the 10K ceremony at approximately 10:45

Special prizes will be presented to the top three overall male and female and top three masters (40 & Over) male and female.

Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers in the following age groups:

6 & Under, 7-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74 and 75 & Over

10K

Special prizes will be presented to the top three overall male and female and top three masters (40 & Over) male and female.

Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers in the following age groups:

13 & Under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over

General

Please plan on being present for the awards ceremony or make arrangements for someone else to pick up your award.  Awards will not be mailed.

We will have a costume contest for both kids and adults.  The best St. Patrick’s Day themed costume (1 child and 1 adult) will receive a prize.

Timing

The race will utilize chip timing.

The chips are attached to the back of your race bib so don’t crinkle them.

Parking

Limited parking is available at the Asheville Catholic School. Parking is also available at the following locations:

  • St. Eugene Catholic Church (Culvern Street just past the school)
  • Asbury Memorial Church (Beaverdam Road)
  • Grace Episcopal Church (upper and lower lots off of Ottari Road)
  • Steinmart shopping complex (across Merrimon Avenue)
  • Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church (on Merrimon Avenue)
  • Surrounding neighborhood side streets.
  • Note: Please do not park in the North Asheville Animal Hospital parking lot across from the school on Beaverdam as they are open for business that morning.

Refunds/Transfers

The Asheville Catholic School has a NO REFUND policy. However, we do offer partial discounts for those canceling during our cancellation periods.
If the event is NOT sold out, a discount code for 50% of your race registration fee will be offered until 7 days days prior to the race date. No discounts codes will be given within 7 days days before the event, if the event is not sold out.
If the event IS sold out, a discount code for 100% of your race registration fee will be offered until 5 days days prior to the race date. No discounts codes will be given within 5 days days before the event, if the event is sold out.
Partial discount codes are only available for cancellations of completed registrations. A registration is considered incomplete if payment was mailed in and has not yet been received.

Discount codes can be used to register for the 2020 event.

Transfers of entries between participants will be accepted through March 11 by completing and submitting this Transfer Form. This is the only way transfers or the selling of bibs between participants will be allowed. Anyone who is discovered to have purchased or accepted another person’s bib without submitting this form will be disqualified and banned from future races.
